In the final week of October, Ely reported two arrests for the Nevada crime of child endangerment. Both concerned men who allegedly possessed and sold marijuana in the presence of a child. One of them is being held on $30,000 bail.
The Nevada crime of child endangerment is knowingly placing the child in an environment that may harm the child's well being. Examples include transporting a child in a stolen car, or allowing a child to be in a drug den. Defenses to this crime include that the defendant had no reason to believe that harm may come to the child, or that the defendant was falsely accused.
